Throughout the first couple of weeks of school, students attended grade-level assemblies to learn more about Northeast expections and what it looks like to be a Northeast Middle School student. Then, on Friday, September 5th, there was an all-school assembly to celebrate the start of a new school year. To kick off the assembly, several staff members performed a dance routine to the Jackson Five's "ABC" under the direction of performing arts teacher Kalie French.
Also, 6th grader Amethyst Maddison was recognized for winning the NEMS Summer Reading Challenge. She read many titles over the summer including Kate DiCamillo's "Flora and Ulysses" and "The Cats of Tanglewood Forest" by Charles DeLint. Amethyst received a new bike, helmet and lock -- congratulations!
NEMS readers will have another opportunity to win prizes for their at-home reading! Keep track of your reading
