At this weekend's city-wide chess tournament, both the 7th grade and the 8th grade teams took 1st place! The 6th grade team also did very well coming in at 3rd place.
According to coach Ken Vreeland, everyone played very well. Eighth grader Tracy Shaffer particularly stood out by taking the honor of overall top player for the 7th/8th grade division as well as 3rd place overall against all the middle school and high school players -- Way to go, Tracy! Additionally, 8th grader Tori McClaren won the honor of top female player, and Victoria Inamagua tied for top honors in the 6th grade division, but unfortunately lost the tie-breaker.
Congratulations to all the Northeast chess players!
