On 4/10/2014, 7th and 8th grade students what are in Chinese classes went to MIA for a cultural exploration. The students represented NEMS very well, and they gained a lot of knowledge about Chinese artwork and painting.

All of the 6th through 8th grade students in Chinese classes were able to follow up this cultural experience with a Chinese artist/guest teacher, Mrs. Michelle Veracka. Mrs. Veracka visited Northeast on 4/15 and 4/16.  During that time, the Chinese classes collaborated with Mrs. Krob's art classes to learn a Chinese painting technique.

This cultural learning opportunity was made possible by funding from University of Minnesota Confucius Institute Chinese Cultural Mini Grant awarded to teacher Sherri Westra. Thanks also to the Northeast Middle School PTA for financially supporting this field trip.
