On Saturday, January 13th, the Northeast GEMS and GISE teams dominated the citywide robotics competition.

The GEMS (Morgan Steffen, Shaadia Munye, Destinie Hasan, Nadine Hinson and Sophie Chase) tackled a real-world food security problem with a custom-designed Strawberry Decontaminator. Their project earned first place for research.

Meanwhile the four GISE teams used their design and programming skills to garner awards in the robot category. Christian Irons-Loomis, Ethan Nevalainen, Kaiser Ritchel, and Aaron Klaers earned the high score for our division while the team of Alex Roelofs, Chris Roelofs, Jan Kij, Charlie Pratt, and Ethan Morris was "the last robot standing" in the head-to-head elimination competition.

Two additional teams (represented by Rocket Flahavan, Joseph McKay-Emond, Frankie Diaz Castanon, Donovan Brenny, Slava Rich, Ivan Rich, and Botan Mohamud) came home with innovative design awards for exceptional design solutions.

Please join us in congratulating our Northeast GEMS and GISE -- they all did a terrific job.
