Forty-five girls participated in the GIRLS (Girls Inspiring Respect Leadership and Service) Academy Saturday into Sunday sponsored by a women’s group from the University of Minnesota. The girls explored ways to show respect to themselves and others, and talked about how to make school a better place. Inspiring and encouraging notes were hung around the school to welcome students coming in Monday morning as an act of service.
Saturday night the girls swam, made collages, did nails, and watched a movie to unwind after the busy day.
Thank you to our own Veann Beutler for spending the entire time at the academy and sleeping on the floor in the media center with the girls. A special thank you also goes out to Tammy Anderson, Maria Malone, Kalie Schlick, and Natalie Hansen for attending the leadership academy and to Tom Menzel, Rico Stodieck, Erica Gates Routa, Debbie Nelson, Ms. Lamberty and Dr. Perrry for supporting the event in a variety of ways.
About 40 college women from Kappa Kappa Gamma spent time inspiring our girls this weekend and made the program possible.
