On Friday, November 7th, students in Mr. Jirsa’s geography class exchanged their classroom for an inflatable planetarium called the "Star Lab." Students dropped off their binders and crawled into the dark dome to meet special guests Odia Wood-Krueger and James Vukelich from the Indian Education Office. There they were treated to traditional Ojibwe stories surrounded by stars.
The program was part of an IB Unit: Culture in the Americas. Students have been reading, writing and taking part in simulations in an effort to gain a deep understanding and appreciation for culture. Hopefully the Star Lab can return to Northeast soon. To see more, visit Mr. Jirsa’s blog on his website.
