Unexcused Absences:
Students are expected to attend all classes, every day.
Missing or skipping classes add up and will count as full day absences
A school-based intervention will happen after 3 days of unexcused absences.
After 6 days, a referral will be made to the Be At School program and the family will be directed to attend a Parent Group Meeting (PGM)
After 9 unexcused absences, the family will be assigned a case management service and will be directed to attend a School Team Attendance Review meeting (STAR)
After 15 days of unexcused absences, the family may be referred to Child Protection or Court services
After 15 consecutive unexcused absences, the student will be withdrawn from school
Late to School and Class:
Arrival to school after 8:40 is tardy to school. Students with a note from home need to report to the main office and receive a pass to class. Without a note, students will be marked unexcused tardy.
Arrival to class after the bell rings is tardy to class. Students will be admitted into the classroom and coded as unexcused tardy by the teacher, unless they have a signed pass to class.
Excessive tardiness to school or class will result in a referral to a dean and could result in being placed on a “No Pass” list or given detention.
