Welcome to Visual Art w/Ms. Del,

The IB Programme visual arts course encourages students to challenge their own creative and cultural expectations and boundaries.

The visual arts are an integral part of everyday life, permeating all levels of human creativity, expression, communication and understanding.

During art class students will explore the connection between art and life through art history and different creative techniques. Students will explore drawing, painting, digital art, 3D construction, sculpture, and wearable art. Career possibilities in art will be discussed and visiting artist will share their experiences when possible. The units are based on the elements and principles of art in alignment with the MN State Arts Standards.

Students should bring a pencil to class and have an old shirt in their locker for when we work on messy projects. Writing and reading will be incorporated into units. Students will be required to write about their work. Students are expected to show positive behavior, make an effort during class, and participate in class discussions. Students can always suggest their own creative expansions of projects. Late work will be accepted with excused absences.

Lighted Tops

In association with the U of M Steam collaboration students created tops that were painted and lit with LED lights. The theme was 'From the Heart'.
